It's a small world afterall..
the most amazing thing happened to me yesterday afternoon!
After shopping for 5hrs continously, I finally decided to get a foot massage and a free head and shoulders massage. I walk in and sits next to this couple. They were chatting to an American saying they're from Melb etc. So then when the American went home, the Aussies (chinese) decided to chat to me.. so he asks 'Where ru from?' I replied 'Melb too, in Rowville' and they replied, 'Oh we're from Lysterfield.. right next door!!'
Then the three of us looked at each other and they said 'I've seen u before. u look so familiar' and I said the same thing back to them..
We basically asked so many ques to find out where the heck we've seen each other. I asked about their kids and no it wasn't their kids cos none of them study in Melb (1 in LA and 2 in QLD). So I asked if they go to church. The lady does , but she goes to Clayton church of Christ.. which is not where I go..
So after 10mins of questioning.. we finally decided to give up trying to figure it out so the lady said 'ah we probably met each other at the shopping malls' and I then BINGO! I said I know where I've seen u guys.. I used to work in Safeway for 6yrs.. I think u were one of my customers.. and BINGO! they said' that's right! in fact, I remember talking to you in your final year about how your course was going!' and I was like oh yeah I remember that!! talk about a small world! A little moment of me scanning their groceries one fine day more than 3yrs ago has turned out to be a moment to remember here in Bangkok! I was dumbfounded.
Anyhow, then the uncle (Gjin - Indonesian Chinese) told me about his 'smart home' business.. how succesful it's going and he really wants to now tap into the Corporate world.. so he kept on asking me 'So are you sick of P&G yet?' and I'm like.. 'no it's a fantastic co. etc' and I even told him why I was in Bangkok, that P&G cares so much about diversity that they decided to fly all the women from Asia Pacific to hold a symposium to 'do something about the issue' (as only less than 30% of senior mgrs are women while the rest are men)
We even made it to the front page of BUSINESS newspaper here in Thailand cos it was such a big deal!
Then he said, well I would really like to hire you one day to work for me.. so he gave me his business card and I gave him mine... now talk about the most uncommon way of meeting someone and then getting a job offer!
We shall see what life holds for me after P&G... that's if and when I quit..
