Thailand in another nutshell..
I finally arrived home today at 11am after 1/2hr delay in Singapore thnx to two ppl who never boarded the plane and hence SQ airline had to find their luggage and remove it off the plane!!
All in all, thank God I made it back safely... and boy am I glad to be back!
Anyways, here are some of the highlights:
1) Wed night - went to Suan Lum market. Didn't buy much at all cos everything were so expensive! I did buy durian chips though, but I later found out I bought it at a really ripped off price!nooooo!!!
2) Thurs night - went with Aveena, Jennifer Gunn, Vanessa & myself to get our hairdo. The guy who's 28y.o kept on hassling me by saying 'ur so beautiful' (broken Thai accent) and he just wouldn't leave me alone. So u can imagine with my head all wrapped up like a Taliban and under the incubabator and unable to turn to look at him and yet this guy keeps on sitting right next to me and interviewing me about my love life.. all my 3 Aussie colleagues were like.. "Vicky u have an admirer..." I would say 'an obsessive one alright'. He wouldn't STOP looking at me.. I felt sooo uncomfortable so all I could do was look in the mirror and no where else till my perm sets! We then went to some back streets for dinner.. all the Thai waiter had an amusing time looking at us foreigners ordering sooooo much food just to try.. so much so that there were no more space on the table for anymore dishes literally! and the bill? AUD $4 pp!! Then we went to Swensens for dessert.. truely delicious
3) Fri whole day - spent at MBK shopping by myself (while the others went in groups, which I can not stand cos they take soooo long esp ang mos who have never seen most of the stuff that I c all the time in M'sia / S'pore/HK that doesn't really interest me so much. Then went for my 1 hr foot massage with free head & shoulders massage that costed me AUD $10!! cheap as chips! When we were walking back to the station (to make our way to ChitLom Sky train stn) all of sudden everyone was all silent and stood straight and immediately I knew it must be the national anthem.. cos EVERYONE on the streets stopped! it was such an amazing sight cos there were that many ppl in the station and they ALL Stopped and saluted to the anthem playing... and my kiwi friends kept on walking and I had to stop them. Once the music finished, everyone started to rush like mad.. Anyways, night time was spent with the kiwi group of colleagues again: Jen, Tamsyn, Susan & Katie. We checked out of our old hotel and went into our next down class cheaper hotel called 'D'MA Pavillion' for $55US per night (works out to be around $38 pp which is not too bad ) . Had cocktails by the pool and then headed out for dinner. We had yummy pineapple rice and green curries which were a little bit spicy for my taste but food was still divine (not for Tamsyn though cos she had diarrhea the next day!)
4) Sat half day - was spent at the Grand Palace... which is a palace/shrine.. filled with gold! The journey there was unbelievable. So hot, so many cars on the road as well there were so many photos of Thailand's king (ie.at hotels, museums, schools etc) U would think that he was literally being worshipped as a whole shrine is devoted to his photo! The Grand Palace was grand olrite, cept it was sooo hot we just wanted to get outta there after 10mins! We had to literally cover ourselves up (no singlet tops but tshirt, no shorts but pants etc. the entrance fee was 250 Baht which is around $8). Then we got our driver to drive us back to the hotel and then straight to airport.. Jen and I did our duty free shopping and headed towards the airport business class lounge.. goodness me.. the Thai Airways lounge was heaven! So much food to eat for free, so much drinks and alcohol to drink (not that I drank any) and all the nice Thai decorated lounges. Jen and I had a shower too cos we were that hot from the Grand Palace and oh we were given the permission to go to the First Class lounge and boy did the shower look grand olright! now I definitely want my shower room look like the one I went to! A Marble floor and a quarter of the room all glassed up for the shower... it was so modern and user friendly olright! Took 2hrs to get to Singapore, whereby we only had 1hr to do more of our duty free shopping and then off we went again on SQ237 from Sing to Australia. I watched only 1movie this time.. a canto film called 'Ah Sou' all about gangs.. it was ok.. not worth my time watching it.. then fell asleep all the way till the next morning..
Got home rested for about 2hrs and off I went to my high school g/f's engagment party (Voan & Glenn) can't believe my little Wongie is getting married next year on Nov 9th! She's picked Chai and her twin sister Cam as her bridesmaid.. she told me she really wanted to include me as the 3rd bridesmaid.. but b/c Glenn only has 2best man.. she couldn't fit anymore.. I told her I don't mind at all.. after all, I'm too tall for the photos with all of them (the bridal parties are all shorter than me! hehehe). Cam, Chai & I are already organising Wongie's hen's night! it's gonna be great! Hepburn springs Health Spa here we come! I told Cam that we should get Wong a skydiving ticket and make her jump out of the plane with her veil on! hehehe that'll be sooo unreal and memorable olright!
ok I'm going to zzz now. It's only 6:30pm and I'm soooooo exhausted!
I so don't want to go back to work 2moro!
