Marketing:The Power of Sampling & WOM

About 6 months ago, I handed over to Sandeep a bottle of the new Olay Total Effects Serum, which is just like Total Effects Cream, however fights twice as hard against anti-ageing and it's a gel texture rather than cream based. Sandeep had a look at it and said:

"'Oh Vicky, my face is very dry, this won't work. After all, this is a serum not a cream. I need something thick for my face'"

"Sandeep, just take it. Try it. Then let me know ok?"

2 months later, I returned back to Sydney:

"So Sandeep, have u tried it?"

"Yes I have and I don't like it. Not moisturising enough. I need to still put a cream on top"

"Well, how long have u used it?"

"Just about 1 week"

"Sandeep! U got to USE IT LONGER for your skin to adjust to it!"

Now.. fast fwd time to January 18th 2006. I received an email from Sandeep saying:

"Vicky, I was wondering if you could pls buy me 2 Olay Total Effects Serum with your staff discount? I LOVE THE PRODUCT! I really see a difference in my skin! It's amazing!"

Now this is the power of sampling! And out of it will come word of mouth (WOM) which is the most powerful marketing tool than anyone can tell you! Sandeep hasn't been the only one praising about how great Total Effects is! Janelle and her sis has been hooked onto it too thanx to some samples I gave her last year.. and then there's Chieny! the biggest fan of Olay TE that's for sure! Gosh, I must really let marketing know to hand out more FREE samples so ppl will know it themselves rather than thinking us sales guys are just doing our typical hot air sales talk. The truth is, if I don't believe in a product, I can not sell it with passion. My buyer at Coles/Bilo can see it too and I honestly tell them of my opinion. Thank goodness, most of my opinions have been positive cos all of Olay's innovation has always been state of the art. That's why we're still the #1 brand in skincare!

Anyways, here are snippets of what's to come in downunder... (shhhh U must not tell anyone!) So now I can use my Total Effects cream even if I have zits on my face! HALLELUJAH!
