GOR trip with S'pore P&Gers

Steve, Cedric, Julie & Charmaine (in red)
Since today was another Public Holiday, I decided to offer my free time to show my Singapore P&Gers the great beauty of Victoria at... yes you guessed it Great Ocean Rd. Today's weather was perfect! Brilliant is the right word! (Especially since it has been raining in Melb for the past 1 week!).

We started our journey at 8:30am. Our first stop was of course at Bell's Beach, Torquay where coincidentally the Rip Curl World's Sufing Championship was on as well (and no I didn't see Kelly Slater! dammit!!). Since there were so many ppl, we couldn't get to the usual lookout so just settled for the top viewing lookout instead. Next, we stopped at Airey's Inlet to check out the lighthouse there as the Singaporeans have never seen one before! The water was so amazingly aqua & clear! Very beautiful in deed.

Next stop was Lorne where we stopped to have some nice oily fish & chips & calamari. Julie loved it as she's never eaten fish & chips before! it was so cute to see 'foreigners' cherishing everything Australia has to offer. It really reminded me not take things for granted!

Next we drove to Apollo Bay. It was there we parted. The Singaporeans went in their Toyota Hybrid Electric car to 12 apostles at Port Campbell, while Chien and I made our way to Otway National Park, famous for its vibrant green rainforest bushwalks and waterfalls. We promised ourselves we would go there after a failed attempt last month as my BLCKP at that time did not like gravel roads. So this time around, we borrowed Chien's boss' Rav4 to go 4WDriving. Our first stop was to Beauchamp Falls, a 20 kms on dirt windy road and then another 1hr return rainforest walk climbing up steps and muddy hills! (gosh I was exhausted after that! definitely my workout for the year!).

By the time we reached our next waterfall - The even more stunning Hopetoun Falls, we had ran out of time to do another 1hr return hike to the bottom. Thus, we decided to cheat by standing on the top viewing deck to take the below view instead. But, having said that, we will be back again as we are still yet to do the Sky-bridge walk (which are these suspension bridge tied to the canopy of the rainforest). Apparently it's a must see since it has made it to the Great Outdoors Travel Show early this year!

We left GOR at around 4:30pm to finally get to Geelong for some Hungry Jacks at 6:30pm then reaching home at approx 7:30pm. I wish I could say I'm all refreshed for another busy week at work, but sadly, I'm feeling the opposite! No doubt, thanks to the rainforest walk, I will wake up with sore muscles tomorrow!
