The Old learning the New
Tonight, We went out to my fav Chinese Restaurant @Imperial Kingdom for dinner. We had really nice Dou Miao (snow peas shoots with mushroom), venison, seafood hotpot with Japanese Tofu & my fav of all the Fried Duck with Yam... hmmmm... I was sooo full after dinner! Really felt like I had a baby in my tummy =)
Here's another funny story of the night:
Kev, Al & I got my mum the 2nd latest Canon ixus 6.0 digital camera for her 60th birthday coming up in two weeks time. Since our family's Pentax film camera has passed its lifespan, I thought it'll be the perfect gift for her (and dad too) before they go on their Europe tour in early June. So, finally I gave it to her last night and Alexis and I spent 1hr teaching both of them (whom I tell ya are from the cavemen era) on how to use a digital camera. My dad is a fast learner I must add, but mum.. oh my goodness! She took her time to draw out every object of the camera's functions so she could write down her own manual of where to press and what each function does... gosh even after drawing 'her manual', she still couldn't do the functions I told her to do as she couldn't even read her own manual! And I tell ya, the functions I asked her to do are very simple only! like zoom in, zoom out. Remove Flash. Put on Nightmode. Play. Delete. Take photo again. She couldn't do half of it.
So tonight, I finally took out the camera to the restaurant for her to 'practice'. I told her to take a pic of Alexis and I. The poor thing took sooo long to focus on us and here I was thinking it'll be a masterpiece for sure since she's taking soooo long. It ended up looking like this (below). Our heads were chopped off! and don't forget too, Canon ixus 6.0 has a huge arse screen and u no longer need to see peep through this tiny whole! My mum was saying 'oh never mind, at least Alexis's dad will be there to help us figure it out' and Alexis goes 'no way man! Even my dad doesn't know how to use his own mobile phone!'! How funny... so frustrating teaching our parents how to use new technology, yet u just can't help but laugh at the silly things they do when they're trying to 'catch up' to new technology! It'll be very interesting to see how my parent's Europe photos will turn out! I hope to God that they won't accidentally press 'erase all'! or even press 'record' rather than pressing 'take the images' function!
