Memory Eraser

After spending the entire day with aunty Angie today doing her last minute shopping and then saying our final goodbye, I thought I'd spend my night watching a highly recommended movie from a girlfriend of mine called 'Eternal Sunshine of a spotless mind' starring Jim Carrey & Kate Winslet.

The movie is basically about a couple who falls in love after meeting each other in the most peculiar way. Then as their relationship progresses, both of them gets very irritated by each others 'faults' and 'bad habits'. After finally calling it quits, the immense pain of the break-up lead them both to call on Dr Howard Mierzwiak, who is the inventor of a process that can actually 'erase' bad memories of the human brain. So as Jim Carrey goes through the procedure, one thing that he failed to take into account of is the fact that he must first revisit every memory of her all over again in order for the procedure to be effective.

It was such an interesting movie. Very confusing at first. But a very good twist towards the end and of course a good moral to the story. The movie made me think about whether or not, if I was given the chance, to actually erase memories of my past failed relationships. As much as it is the easier way out, I don't think I would ever go through the procedure of erasing that someone out. After all, who you are today is because of that special someone in your past who shaped and changed you. Though it may hurt at first when you go through the process of a break-up, nevertheless you learn to be stronger, tougher for the next battle in life...
