Week of Birthday Celebrations
What a crazy week it has been! Going out night after night, surprises after surprises (on avg, I got home every night at 12:30AM & had a max sleep of 5hrs!) . But, I thoroughly enjoyed every single minute of it! The best 25th birthday I could ask for!
Monday - off to visit LW & Jeff's new place at as well as to meet DK & Kylie for the last time before they leave at 10am the next day.
Tues - dinner with DG@Silver Mings, Docklands. Gosh I was soooooo blown away by DG's sweet gesture! After work, I drove to his place & went straight to the bathroom to get changed out of my work mini skirt into comfy jeans. Anyways, I could hear all these racket outside. Finally, when I got dressed, I opened the door and there lied in front of me this high chair blocking the door for me to get out. On top of the chair were these gorgeous long stem lilies & gift bag of present and card. I was soooo touched by the surprise as I really didn't expect it. Then DG took me to the most classiest Chinese restaurant in Docklands. He literally spoiled me rotten! We had like lobster, fish, duck, san choi bao, the lot! It was the most expensive dinner I've ever had in my entire life (let's just say the bill came just over $350 btw the 2 of us!). Then we went to Swanston St to a cafe to have drinks as it was such a hot and humid day. There were so many ppl out too! Oh & the city looked so pretty b/c of all the Christmas decorations.
Wed - dinner with Eugene, Audrey & Adrian @Tomoshibi Japanese restaurant. After YGII, I drove to Glenny to park my BLCKP there while hopping into Eugene's car to go all the way back into the city @Middle Park for what would be 'the best Jap restaurant in Melbourne' rec. by Eugene. It was great to have caught up with Audrey & Adrian as it has been over 2yrs I reckon since we last caught up properly. The night was filled with lots of authentic Jap food plus lots of funny comments like... after tasting the food, Eugene kept on asking us 'are you there in Japan yet Vicky? are you there?' and all 3 of us would have to say 'yes we're there in Japan... we're so there!'. You just had to be there to see how passionate the guy was about the restaurant. But I must admit, in all seriousness, it was a very authentic Jap restaurant without the touch of the West or the Chinese. The chef is 100% Japanese! The price is not bad too for the quality of food.
Thurs - After getting home from work today, I saw a package addressed to my name from a guy named Alvin in SA. Here I was thinking is this a bomb or something cos I had no idea who this guy was. Anyway, after opening it, the moment I saw the 2 pairs of VS, I laughed my head off cos immediately I knew who they were from as my friend had arranged this as a mail order addressed to me. So to that special person, thank you! Even my mother asked who they were from and I just couldn't bear to tell her your name! HA! love it love it love it!
At night, I met up with Ed (who coincidentally was up here in Melbourne for another Tony Robbins seminar), for dinner @The Vibe, St Kilda. He's another sweetheart that spoiled me rotten. The guy brought a backpack along and it didn't occur to me that the reason he brought it was b/c hidden inside were all of my surprises! Anyway, after ordering the food, he presented to me his first gift and as soon as I saw the unique shaped gift, my eyes lit up cos it was exactly what I was hoping to get. I remember thinking to myself.. 'no way, this is too good to be true. He couldn't have known'. So after unwrapping the gift, my wish came true. It was my fav perfume by Issey Miyake. The funny thing is my current bottle is just about to run out and I had already told a friend to get it for me when he leaves for HK on Sunday. So the first thing I asked Ed was 'How the heck did you know?'. He replied 'actually funny you say that, cos the sales lady was trying to sell me Estee Laudee but after sniffing it, I knew it just wasn't you. However, when I saw the packaging of Issey (get this, Ed haven't even smelt the parfum), immediately I knew this had your name all over it'. In Ed's very own words 'it's because the Holy Spirit told me so'. How blessed am I! I love it when God intervene during times like these! HA! Then, Ed said 'there's more!' and so he hands me over my Christmas present of which I am not allowed to open until Christmas Day itself (not fair!). After dinner, we then went down the road to have really nice coffees! Talked more about career and about how to control your mind to be optimistic (very interesting stuff Ed!) & lots of other interesting topics. Thanks hun for being such a blessing to my life! xo
Fri (Actual Birthday) - Receiving my 1st ever bunch of flowers delivered to my workplace & not only that, THE BIGGEST BUNCH I'VE EVER SEEN!!! I literally died with embarrassment as EVERYONE (women & men!) gathered in my office to ask me the million questions! I must admit, they were absolutely gorgeous & smelled really nice too!
I purposely placed the mug & the A4 scrap book next to the flowers to give you an idea of just how HUGE the flowers were!
Lunch with colleagues at Paessano , Knox Ozone.
Dinner with Life Group - pot blessing at my place
(which was not supposed to be a night about celebrating my birthday at all! but the cell had other plans!!)
Love you guys!
Highlight of my birthday celebration with the cell:
1) My parents cooking 4 very delicious meals for the pot bless & everyone really loved it and commented on and on about how I must learn from my parents blah blah blah cos I've never cooked for them cos of the lack of time!
2) My durian birthday cake which was bought by Kelv (who absolutely can not stand durian) but he knew how much I love durian so being so selfless and thoughtful, he ordered it and drove it all the way from the city to my place with the aroma of durians sitting on his back seat! Gosh I was soooo touched & so were all the girls too!
3) Getting so many cool presents from my life group members especially the MP3 player (x2) from Mikey! love it!
4) Playing with the sword (bible quiz) that I had made up - I split the teams into two: One called Ah Bengs & the other Ah Lians.. and of course the Ah Lians won cos the Pastor was in that team! The funniest thing was when the game finished, I accidentally announced the wrong team as the winners and they jumped with joy only for me to then take the prize off them! HAHAHA! was so funny to see the disappointment look on Jimmy & Kelv's face!
5) At about 11pm, I took all of them (Jimmy, Kelv, C, Eugene, Sweet, PL, Linda, Raymond & Simon) for a drive into the wilderness for some star gazing which is a tradition that I must do every birthday to Lake Aura Vale. The night was soooo pretty! Clear skies and a million stars in sight! so when we had arrived all of them were freaked out cos it was pitch dark and I made them all trespass the national park so that we could walk to the table overlooking the lake that reflected the stars in the night sky. All of us saw the same shooting star at the same time! 'Twas such a precious moment!
Sat - A birthday outing with Z all the way to Queenscliff (which is approx 2hrs away just past Geelong). He took me to his fav getaway in Vic. We had a really nice drive mostly talking about very deep and personal stuff, sipping chai lattes while browsing some very arty farty things at the local market, eating fish & chips for lunch at Point Lonsdale lookout point overlooking the beach & finally to seal it off, licking some really delicious Turkish Delight Timboon ice-cream! hmmm...
At night, it was our ECCC - The Covenant Church's first ever youth rally called 'Ignite - Life's Ups and Downs'. It was absolutely awesome to see 23 non-Christians Youth turn up! All up we had 46 ppl in the house! It was such and awesome night of Praise & Worship and Enoch did a stunning job with his short and sweet message! God's presence was awesome too! No doubt seeds were planted!
Sun - brunch with my dearest chicky Yin Zi. She took me to Woodstock in Armadale and we shared some very D&Ms over brunch! I always love exchanging conversations with this girl! Then we went to Trampoline Chaddy for the best gelato ice-cream ever & where YZ bought me half a dozen of Krispy Kremes in an attempt to make me 'fat'! thnx heaps hun! really appreciate it xoxo ;)
Oroton wallet from YZ! love it!! & a GORGEOUS ESPRIT sexy top from the Yong Family while cute Elisha (sunday school) gave me a glass turning globe which really meant a lot to me especially since this year will be the beginning of my journey to impacting the world through missions!!
My very cool Sushi cup & toe socks all the way from Nagoya Japan! Thanks WONGIE for being so sweet! (received on 27th Nov)
Received a package on Monday 28th from Kevin QT in Syd and inside was a Sony MP3 player (pink stick 1G) Yepee just what I originally wanted (the stick version!) so now all up, I have 3 MP3 players!
Then after church, it was going back home to get ready for the arrival of my high school chicks who were bringing dinner to my place (thnx Chai for cooking cous cous, bbq chicken & salad). They got me the most gorgeous blue bouquet of flowers & another DURIAN CAKE! hmmmmm ! I felt so special alright! Then after dinner, we sat near the piano where I played 'My heart will go on' for them and we all sat in the very romantic atmosphere that I had set up for them (filled with candles & Christmas lights & carols). The perfect setting to chit chat the night away of the year that was & the future to come...
Thanks chickies for such a great night of intimate chit chat!
I really do treasure our moments together especially when I know our group will disband very soon =(
