NYE Celebrations (x2)

This year, I managed to convince Linda to join me in celebrating 2006 NYE with my group of friends! Not one party but two! The venue? First to Evan's BBQ & then the countdown at Kelv's apartment in South Melbourne (their place is literally 3 blocks apart).

Highlight of NYE:
Evan's party (5:30pm - 10:30pm)
1) Playing singstar
karaoke game - where it was boys vs girls & of course us gals kicked the guys' ass! ;)
2) Meeting Carrie - who's Fabian's (from Citylife) girlfriend. Carrie is a doctor and in 2007, she will spend 1 yr travelling while working as a doctor in India, Ireland & South America all by herself and having no friends whatsover in those countries! I was so encouraged to see her courage & positive attitude in embracing change for the future unknown.
3) Grace's the bartender pro - this girl has a skill in making the best mixed drinks & shots! The entire night, she kept on re-filling everyone's glasses till I literally had to leave the party before I was totally wasted as she would not take no for an answer!

4) Drinking Champagne - with Ev at his balcony while toasting to the new and exciting year ahead.

Holding the very yummy Midoori Melon & Pineapple drink that I made ;)

Kelv's party (10:30pm - 3am)
1) Losing my camera - Fifteen minutes just before the clock struck 2007, I realised my camera was missing. So everyone turned on the lights to help me search Kelv's entire aptment to find my IXUS 6.0! To my horror, we didn't find it so I didn't manage to take any firework photo shots. However, I was very thankful when Evan came back to Kelv's apartment to hand over my camera. Apparently he had accidentally put it in his pocket after helping me take a group shot at Kelv's party! I didn't know whether to kiss the guy or to kill the guy after that!!!
2) Watching the fireworks - Such a great view from Kelv's apartment. While watching the Yarra River fireworks, I had a mixture of excitement and sadness. Excited because I know I am about to embark on a very exciting journey ahead of me. Sad because I know January will fly past my eyes & before you know it, I will have to say the dreaded goodbye to all of my dearest friends & family.
3) Spending an intimate moment with God in my car just before 07' arrived- I came out of the party at about 11pm to sit in my car in solitude so that I could dedicate 2007 completely unto God's hand. I shed some tears in the car as I reflected upon the year that was as well as the year to come... I was so overwhelmed with God's love & goodness in my life over the years. As I came out of my car, I knew with certainty that 2007 will be a year that God reveals His purpose & plan for my life and I can not wait to see it come to past!
4) A beautiful moment with the Core 7 - At about 2am, we started to share amongst the Core 7 (who are the regulars in the life group) one thing that we know will be fulfilled in Jesus name for 2007. It was such a precious moment where all of us reflected upon the year and affirmed one another with the strong friendship bond. We then talked about what we will be expecting from God next year. Jimmy wrote it all down so that we can uphold one another in prayer for the entire year of 07 to ensure it will come to past in Jesus Name! We knew also that many changes will happen to all of us next year: Me leaving the group in Feb, Poh Lee & Simon getting married in May, Sweet & Jimmy (cell leaders) expecting to be parents in July, Mike's decision to permanently settling down in Melbourne as opposed to Brisbane (great decision!) & finally Kelvin to build his business empire with affiliations in China and of course Mike, Jimmy, Sweet & I going to missions in Cambodia in Feb! What an exciting year ahead for Core 7!

Hardest Goodbye Of The Year

My Last Day as a member of ECCC - The Covenant Church...

Can't believe how fast time has flown & Dec 31st has finally arrived...
The day finally came since my announcement in September to my church that I will be leaving them for good in pursuit of God's calling in international missions. Back then, I was still hoping to visit them once in a while. However, now that I am leaving the country as well, my farewell today became ten times harder...
The Pastor got me to go up the front to do a farewell speech. I purposely wore mascara that day so that my vanity will force me not to cry. However, that didn't quite go as planned. When Pastor Jasmine made her speech thanking me for all my help with the church over the years, she started to tear. Then finally when Pst Yong & Pst Jasmine prayed over me with the entire church behind me supporting the prayer, that was when my tears started to flow. Like always, the prayer over my next phase of life was powerful! Every word spoken edified my spirit. Pst Jasmine even prophesied over me with Genesis 24. Then 2 ppl also came up to me afterwards confirmed that prophesy all at separate time! I was absolutely blown away and extremely thankful to God for His promise over the next 2yrs of my life.

Before I was about to leave the church, I was sooooo touched to see that the Youth had prepared a present for me (A 'love heart' necklace & Miss Naughty Summer PJs to wear in Singapore =). But the best present of all was the card that they made. It was also signed by everyone in the church. That night, I cried after reading the card. Every person shared their love and appreciation to me. My heart was so heavy ladened as it had finally sunk in that I have officially left each and everyone of them after 15yrs of sharing life together.
I know God will continue to do great & marvelous work in their life and I can not wait to hear about it in the years to come...
Now that I am fully equipped, it's time to extend my territory and rock the world for Jesus!
My Thank You present to my dearest Pastors!

My dearest sisters in ECCC. I will miss every Youth in ECCC sooo much!

Shit Happens on NYE!

On the morning of New Year's Eve, I received two fines costing me $200 all b/c of my sheer stupidity!

1) 2am - Red light camera flashed on me as I went over a Yellow turning Red light on Kings Way! How I wished I could press the rewind button so that I could hit the breaks rather than the stupid accelator!! Can't wait to receive the $150 fine in the mail in 2 wks time! ARGHHHH!!!!

2) 9am-12:30pm - getting my hair done at Tommy's in Springvale. My stupid hairdresser took her darn time (all up it took 3hrs to do my hair thanks to the 2 tone blonde colouring!) so I had totally forgotten my car park time limit! By the time I remembered, it was 1hr late already and I ran out of the hairdresser still with the cape on plus a wet hair hoping to God that I didn't get a fine. To my worse nightmare, I received the small ticket stuck on my windscreen! There goes another $50! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

Wah Xing Tong Man!

My hairdo should've costed me $40, but instead... a whopping $90 inclusive of my fine! dumbarse!

A New Me!

ECC Casey Camp: Yarra Junction

I dragged Kelv & Mike with me to ECC-Casey Camp Adenac held at Yarra Junction for a day trip (which is near Healesville). We got there at around 5:30pm. I was so glad we went cos our guest speaker David Palmer said a powerful prophesy over Kelv's life. The poor guy was just sitting in the front seat when Pst David walked over and got Kelv to get up the front. Then Pst David (who doesn't know a single thing about Kelv) spoke over his life that were sooooo accurate! Not only that, he told Kelv of the things to come that God has in store for him. Goodness, the entire Core 7 clan were blown away!

Then Jimmy & Sweet got up for prayer too and Pst David prophesied over this beautiful couple and once again it was spot on! God has exciting plans for these powerful man & woman of God and it won't be in Australia either. They will travel abroad for God's work! It didn't come as a surprise to them cos other ppl in the past had also prophesied to them about this as well. God is moving powerful in my dear bros & sis lives & I'm just sooooo encouraged by it! Can't wait to see it all come to past!

Belated Birthday Celebrations

It all started with a chit chat on msn when I had found out that my good friend Evan never even celebrated his birthday last month. In fact none of his close friends/family did anything for him nor did they even bother to wish him a Happy Birthday. You see, Ev & I nearly share the same birthday! His is 4 days after mine (but he is still 2yrs older !), so coupled with this fact, Ev too felt really bad that he didn't make it for my birthday nor did he bothered to wish me a HB.

Thus, both of us came to a compromising outcome. He wanted to cook for me to make up for what happened but, I had also wanted the night to be about him.

So night began at 7pm at his cool apartment in South Melbourne. The food was fantastic! While we were eating, I gave him my gift to him which was aimed to encourage him in his pursuit of his career overseas next year; ' to hold Y2007 in your hand' I call it (with God's strength of course).

After the meals, it was time for dessert & of course, I surprised him with a mud cake from MP's. Even though his birthday is 1month past, I made sure that the entire birthday tradition was still carried out; from singing the song to making the wish before blowing out the candle & of course cutting the cake. Then to my surprise, he handed me my birthday present! I could see so much thought & effort went into the gift even just the wrapping in itself! gosh was I impressed or what?! ;)

Finally it was time to watch the movie: Wicker Park (which is a bit like Single White Female) while eating the very addictive cherries! Gosh Josh Hartnett can be my boyfriend any day! 'Twas a great night in deed!

I can tell you now, I'm sooooo treasuring every minute of my time with my close friends!
I'm soooo going to miss all of them. Stop the time. Please!

Entree:
Raw Salmon & Oven Baked Oysters!
(they were sooo good!)

Mains:
Grilled Salmon with cream & continental parsley, calamari & buk choi

My pretty 'Italian-Made' belated birthday gift

Thank you sooo much Evan!!

Congratulations!

.....to my dear cous Jeanne,

VP in MY - Feb 07'

I spent the whole day with my dearest mah-mi doing our post Christmas Shopping spree. We went everywhere from Word to Koorong, to Vermont South (Rich Maha for lunch eating our Indian mee goreng & roti canai as well as my all time fav samosa!). Then it was off to Knox & finally Stud Park. The damage you ask?

I spent about $1500 today!! OMG! *faints*

But..

The majority ($1231) was to pay for my plane ticket to Cambodia with a stopover at KL.
I will leave for Phnom Penh on Feb 2nd, returning back to KL on FRI Feb 9th at 1400hrs - MH 755. This means I won't be able to carry any Aussie gifts with me back to Malaysia as I will be taking a backpackers bag filled with pens & other stationeries, going straight to the villages of Cambodia as our first-stop! So cous Steph if you're free then, come pick me up on Feb 9th? pretty pls? but only if you're free... and don't tell the fantastic 4 that I'm coming back to see them too cos I really want to surprise them!!

My visit to Malaysia will be a short one for only 2 day as I really want to soak in as much of my time with my parents & friends in Melbourne before leaving them come end of Feb. Once I'm settled in Singers, I will go back to Malaysia more regularly to visit gezillion other family & friends there.... Promise ;)

So February 2007 > Cambodia, Malaysia & Singapore here I come!

The Beginning of an End

It's so hard to let them go fend the world for themselves...

"It's like seeing a child coming off their training wheels to finally riding the bike on their own for the very first time..."

Tonight was officially the last night of YGII for good after 2yrs of going to their place every Wed nights to teach them bible lessons, to counsel them in all areas of life & of course to catch up with them in general!

Gosh, I've watched the two of them grow literally since they were little primary school kids. Then through to high school and now....uni.

So tonight, I decided to spend our very last lesson by reflecting through all the books we've read this year: From Genesis (the story of Isaac/Jacob/Joseph), Exodus (the story of Moses), to Ecclesiastes (the wisdom and learnings from King Solomon), Daniel, through to Acts (entire book > the stories of Peter, Stephen, Saul who became Paul etc etc.)
I was so proud to see that both of them (who are usually very very forgetful to the point where I've gone to their place about 40% of the time only to find out that they've totally forgotten about Youth Group even though we've had it every single WED nights for the past 2yrs!) had remembered so much of the stories learned. I hope they will apply the lessons learned to their life especially in the years to come....

After praying for each of them, it was off to Hoa Tran in Springvale to end the year with a celebration feast! Before I went out of the house, Audrey was so sweet to hand me a thank you/birthday present. It was some very sexy chemisoles/nighties for me to take to Singapore. Gosh I so love them!

Next surprise of the night which absolutely MELTED MY HEART!

I didn't even see it coming either! Andrew (who's a very quiet & shy guy who doesn't express much of his feelings) came up to me to give me this HUGE gift bag with a very heavy present inside it. As soon as I felt the weight of the present, I knew exactly what it was! You see, 3wks ago when we had YGII at Andrew's room, I noticed that he got this new funky clock hung on his wall. Now, this wasn't your avg clock, it was a TYRE cos Andrew, being a typical guy, LOVES cars! In the middle of the tyre (ie. where the hubcap is supposed to be) lies the clock face! Such a smart concept. So being the 'very-easy-to-get-me-excited' self, I told him how much I loved the clock & his taste in general! Now fast fwding to tonight at the parking lot, I quickly teared up the beautifully wrapped paper into pieces and whoalla... my guess was correct! ANDREW heard how much I loved his clock & decided to get me one too (except mine is apparently better than his cos it's also got neon lights! cool hey?!). Despite the fact that it weighs about 5kg, I told Andrew that 'the clock is definitely coming with me to Singers!'.

When I got home, I finally read the card that he gave me. It said:

"Dear Vicky,
I would like to take this opportunity to say 'thank you' for your commitment in us and our Youth Group. It must've been hard for you to organise all this. We apologise for the times that we've disappointed you (ie. coming all the way to their place only to drive back home again cos they're not home!). It has been a good and fun year with you and the youth. We wish you all the best in Singapore. Be safe & have lots of fun. God Bless, Andrew"

I was so close to tears. Every prayer, every drive to their place, every hour sacrifced on my Wed nights for the past 2yrs was sooooo worth it! Just to watch them grow to who they are today is invaluable in itself, but to also receive the appreciation that I had tonight is beyond words!

Even though YGII had officially ended tonight, I pray that their journeys from hereon will be the beginning of reaching new heights with God. 2007 will be a year that Andrew & Audrey meet God for themselves. Every single testimonies where God has met my needs will too, be evident in their lives. I know God will not disappoint, after all He has said 'My word that goes out from my mouth will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it" (extracted from Isaiah 55:11)
