Western Sydney
The conference finally finished today at 1pm.
Pip took me in her Mazda coupe with the roof off for us to soak in our Vitamin D for the week (since today has been the only day of sunshine so far this week!)
I went to see my P&G office in Rydalmere for the very last time. The office is absolutely empty. Although it's at a crappy location, I must admit, I will miss the place. After all, it was the office that I started my first day and did many rounds of trainings and meetings there. Sigh.. change is good I guess. So watch out Macquarie SC, we will be moving near the shopping centre real soon in Nth Ryde!
Mitchell was really sweet to offer me a ride to Parramatta where I really wanted to go get my qtrly well deserved retail therapy. He's also offered for me to to go with him to Hillsong Church in Waterloo this weekend.
Anyhow, all up I spent 3hrs shopping at Westfield P. I spent the longest time in TEMT (my fav store) & Suite Boutique. Gosh, all the funky tops were like max $10.95 (and I'm talking about knits here). On top of that, the working pants I bought at TEMT costed me only $6.95 (original price -$34.95) What a bargain! I bought a leather belt too at Myer's Massive Clearance Sale. All up today, I spent around $55 for 5 pieces of clothing! not bad in deed ;)
When I was just about to leave, I decided to take some snapshot of Parramatta, the city where my ex-church (Hillsong Chinese church) was located. As I was taking the shot, this druggy looking teenager around 16y.o sat right next to me and before you know it, I could feel my bag slipping away. Immediately, out of reflex, I took the bag back. Not that it was valuable or anything (except my phone) but I was soooo pissed off at the chic. I gave her the biggest grease!
Anyhow, Here I am in Cabramatta. My 2nd home =)
When I saw my 'uncle' (aka known as my adopted grandpa), immediately he came to greet me with the biggest hug and kiss! He's soooo cute!
So of course like always, the first thing he does is make me stand there so that he can have a good look at me from head to toe to see if I've put on weight or anything. He is truly one guy that really ensure I eat well and don't PUT on weight! (he even refrained me from buying dessert at the nearby shops next to his house! not fair!). You gotta love him!
Here were some really funny moments I had with my uncle:
1) As soon as I got back, like the good ol days, I would go and get all of my shopping clothing and do a catwalk for uncle. He's sooo cute! He literally assesses it very seriously. Then I make him guess how much they are and usually he tells the truth of what he actually thinks (eg. $50 etc). But since he's learnt that vpmy is a bargain hunter esp in clothing, our typical conversation was a little bit skewed:
"Guess how much uncle?"
"$5"
"What?! NO!! I'm not that tight! Guess again!"
"$10"
"Nope, it's $6.95", I said immediately and with so much pride; "but don't you go tell everyone that ok uncle?"
"No way! I'm going to tell everyone that you are only worth altogether $13.90"
"Uncle!"
2) Putting the doona cover on my doona in my room - He pretended that he didn't know how to do such thing, so he made me do it instead. So then being miss smarty pants herself, I decided to pretend that I didn't know how to do it as well. So the most ironic thing was by the end of our little prank, I was getting very impatient by just standing there that I finally gave in. To my horror, I couldn't get the damn thing to fit properly even with uncle's help! so then I got sooo annoyed that I literally put my whole head inside the cover with the doona in there! while my uncle started to pretend that he couldn't see me by saying (in mandarin) 'eh? where's Vicky? where has she gone?'. T'was such a gorgeous moment in deed!
3) Since he banned me from buying my dessert, I threatened him too that I was to hide his cigarettes as soon as we got home so that he can't smoke! (usually he smokes when we're walking to and fro from the restaurant nearby his house for dinner and when that happens I would literally pretend to go into a coughing spasm attack out in public just to make a point and he gets all embarrassed! sooo funny!)
4) Over dinner, he finally said to me 'Vicky, you look much more prettier than the last time you were here'. Gosh was I that ugly the last time?!
5) This one isn't really a funny moment but a touching moment. Uncle seems to know me so well. In fact, some times too well. As soon as I got to his house, he already prepared the 'thickest' doona & a fan heater as he told me 'I know you get cold very easily'. Then he goes get me a towel without me even asking cos he knew I wouldn't bring one =) Then when we go for dinner, he always remembers what my fav. dishes are and he would order them without me asking. I then told him about my plan of moving to Syd next year and that I may live with him for at least 1yr even though I will be at least 1hr away from my new office. He was so happy but then he got a bit worried as he remembered that I'm so not a morning person and always running late for work just like last time when I was always running late to catch my train to Woolies! LOL!
I love my uncle! ;)
*Happy Birthday to another dear friend, Mr. Kevin Trinh - 1 more yr to go before the Big 30!*
