My Citibank Gold - Finally!
Can you believe just how good God has been over the past month ever since I had my 'spiritual breakthrough' and made my solemn vow into doing missionary work and sponsoring a child/missionaries.
So here's another 777,777,777th entry of a MIRACULOUS event that just happened.
Ever since I was robbed back in Jan in NZ, I went through a 3-mth window shopping spree for a GOLD CREDIT CARD!! I literally searched through EVERY bank there is in Australia for the best GOLD card offer.
The reason I wanted Gold is b/c it comes with free travel insurance (if you buy the plane ticket with the card). But obviously you have to be eligible for it first. So I thought why not?
Anyhow, so I searched and searched until I found Citibank's Gold Card. It had everything I was looking for.
Free Travel insurance, 55 days interest free, generous credit limit, it had VISA, but most importantly, it had the BEST rewards program as well as Qantas frequent flyer points! The rewards program really sucked me in! I really wanted the Citibank Gold card. I was definitely sold on the rewards program. However, there was a catch too. The better the rewards program usually means the more the ANNUAL FEE --- > A whopping $119 per year! I wanted it so badly that I even rang up Citibank and tried to haggle my way to getting it for free! It didn't quite work.
(In Australia, every GOLD credit card usually have an annual fee attached to it due to its high maintenance fee).
There was no way in the world I would waste that kinda money just for a stupid plastic card! C'mon I could sponsor a kid for 4mths so they can live! Anyhow, I finally settled for St George Gold which costs $59 annually but had the best travel insurance coverage. However, deep down, I still wished it was Citibank Gold.
Then just 2 weeks ago, the most miraculous thing happened!
A mail came addressed to me. I opened it. Inside, it said:
'Congratulations Vicky. You have been selected for a Citibank Gold with Annual Fee Waived for the lifetime of the account'. Not only that, you can enjoy free travel insurance ...... etc. etc.
AND free rewards program!
No Way! All this for free?!! PLUS this card was my first love! I couldn't believe it. It just sounded too good to be true. After all, 'who would trust a bank? especially in their dodgy credit card shemes! So I read every T&Cs and all the fine prints and guess what, there was no catch at all! All I had to do was fill out some personal details and send it by mail. On top of that, I opted for the Gold card with my photo on it (which yet again was for free!) PLUS I got a supplementary card for my dad (usually cost $30 but again, they WAIVED IT for ME!).
Even after applying for it, I was still sceptical about it until.... today. I came home from work and there was 2 letters from Citibank. I opened it and there it was, my CITIBANK GOLD with my own personal ugly photo (and no I'm not that vain, I wanted the photo for the sake of added security since I've been robbed before).
It amazes me to this day just how much God blesses you when you literally choose to invest your money and time sewing into His kingdom. I mean seriously, I've received literally hundreds of credit card invites in the mail but ALL had a catch or didn't have the offer I was looking for. Then finally two weeks ago (just after I finally learned to give all of my failures, hopes & dreams unto God), the exact card that I wanted came right to my doorstep ALL for FREE and this time.. I didn't have to beg for it!
